Struggling with reactivity? Is the walk with your dog not what you want it to be? You’re not alone.
Every other week, I host a reactivity class at Mills Riverside Park.
We will cover the causes and types of reactivity, training protocols, leash skills, maintenance habits, and ways to address the root mindset and emotion of the dog.
Depending on how everyone does, we may only practice in the open area across the bridge or we may hit the trails.
When:
10:00 am every other Saturday
Where:
Mills Riverside Park
What to bring:
- Treats: to reward good choices
- A ball or a tug toy: also to reward good choices. But solid, healthy play is one of my first steps in treating reactivity or any relationship/behavior problem.
- A long line: much of reactivity is exacerbated by tension and frustration coming from being confined on a tight leash. With a long line, we give the dog freedom to make choices and reduce the conflict between them and the person on the other end.
Cost: $20, paid in cash, check, or Venmo
Attendance varies! Sometimes it’s a good-sized group. If there’s only one person, they get a personalized lesson at a steep discount.
